How to Cook Frozen Chicken in the Instant Pot

If you don't have fresh chicken, chances are you will use Frozen Chicken. Thawing Chicken is the most time-consuming part of making any recipe that contains chicken. Forgetting to take the chicken out of the freezer is the biggest nightmare.

But worry not, there is an easier way to make chicken recipes now.

An Instant Pot is a solution to the problem of thawing chicken. An instant pot is an electric pressure cooker, which is several times easier to use than a traditional pressure cooker. You can also use a traditional pressure cooker for this method.

 The Method:

1.    Place the Chicken into the bottom of the Instant Pot.

The Chicken can be frozen or thawed. This method works for both; however, the cooking time will vary because Frozen Chicken takes longer to cook than thawed chicken.

2.    Add in a Liquid and Season

Preferably water or Chicken Stock/Broth, but it can be anything you wish, like juice or concentrate. Season the liquid with salt, pepper, and any other spice you wish. You could add garlic, thyme, ginger, or anything else you wish to add.

3.    Close the Lid and Wait

Close the lid of the Instant Pot or pressure cooker and seal it so pressure can build in the pot. Press the Manual pressure button and set it to high pressure and wait for 10 to 12 minutes (these timings are for frozen chicken)

4.    Release the Pressure

In the Instant Pot and even the traditional Pressure Cooker, the pressure built up will release by itself. The rest of the pressure should be carefully released manually by removing the seal of the pot/ or removing the weight on the pressure cooker.

5.    Done

Take the chicken out carefully from the Instant Pot and place it on the plate, and that’s it. You’re done. Eat as is or add sauces and eat.

This method is not the only way to make frozen chicken. Frozen Chicken Kebab and Frozen Lamb Kebab from Tariq Halal Meats can be made by steaming in the pressure cooker.

Add water and rest the kebabs above the water on the trivet and close the lid and the steam will cook the kebabs.
