Lamb masala, popularly known as the mutton masala, is a classic Indian meat dish. It comes with its own set of distinctive flavours and aromas. The process is pretty simple and yet the results are heavenly. Follow the easy recipe and lace it up with exotic spices that shall help you achieve flawless results, making the dish a true success. The options to accompany this delicious dish are endless.  You can top it up with Indian chapati, naan, or even plain steamed rice. This dish is an absolute blessing to the taste buds.

If you love Indian food, then this slow-cooked mutton masala is a match made in heaven for you. The recipe is simple and easy with a blend of spices and caramelized onions. The spices in Lamb masala are unique and very well balanced. This is also a reason why spices may be readily available in the form of cooked mutton masala.

Normally a slow cooker is best suited for such dishes but if you do not have one, you can easily settle for gas stoves as well.

 The array of ingredients:

Lamb - many times most people prefer to use a lamb shoulder or leg for the sole intent of slow cooking. The slow release of the lamb juice is what makes the dish a godsend. The meat does take longer to cook, but as it comes out, nothing beats the amount of tenderness and juice it has in it.

Onions - caramelized onions are the king of these dishes. Brown onions are the cult classic but you can also settle for the red ones. Red onion adds a bit of sweetness, which again is a very desirable aspect. You mustn't rush while cooking the onions and take your time in it. Take longer and slower in the process as this will help caramelize the onions. This in turn not only enhances the taste but also adds that touch of deep red colour to this dish.

Yoghurt - Meat and dairy cooked in unison have a blatantly unique taste. In addition, yoghurt helps tenderize the meat and in turn, helps it cook faster.

Spices - the success of this dish lies in the hands of the spices in use.

Garam Masala - This is an Indian spice blend and is readily available in the markets. This is made with warm spices like cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon.  You can also use your own homemade garam masala mix.

Fennel seeds - This is the star spice that alleviates the dish. Mutton masala has to have fennel powder or else it would never click.
