How to cook a perfect Turkey?
Be it Thanksgiving,
Christmas or just a small family gathering, a perfectly seasoned turkey can
always be a mouth-watering dish for the main course. Very few people know that
the traditional Christmas bird, turkey, has all the nutritional benefits of
chicken but with a moderately lower fat content. Do you want to make a juicy,
tender and golden turkey with crispy skin, with lots of flavours and perfectly
seared steak? Then here’s an easy Turkey recipe for
you.
Step-1
Shopping is the first step
that you need to opt for at least five days before. You can always buy a fresh whole
turkey but the thumb rule is to buy 1 pound of turkey per
plate or per person. You can buy a frozen or fresh turkey as per your
convenience and don’t forget to shop or other ingredients like sweet potato,
corn casserole, easy stuffing, and green bean casserole while you go for
shopping
Step-2
The next step is to thaw
your turkey in the fridge or cold water. While cooking fresh turkey plan
ahead because this process needs time.
Step-3
If you want equally
flavourful and tender dark and white meat, then brining is a great option. You
should keep at least 24 hours in hand with a solution of kosher salt, herbs,
water and citrus in which you can soak your turkey in.
Step-4
Post brining you need to rub
your secret herbs and butter between the skin and the meat which will make the
skin crispy and your turkey delicious with a package of flavours.
Step-5
Fill the bird cavity and
roast for at least 30 minutes in your pre-heated oven at 500 degrees
Fahrenheit.
Step-6
Turn your oven down to 350
degrees and after 15-20 minutes remove the turkey from the oven. Take a piece
of foil and foil hat while folding it over the breast of the bird. Let it cook
for 161-165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step-7
After 30 minutes pull the beautifully
golden brown turkey out of the oven and you are all set for your perfect
Thanksgiving or Christmas meal. Also, make sure to wrap Turkey in an aluminium
foil so that it doesn’t get cold.
